Sylvia Wood Fowler, 74, of China Grove, North Carolina, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, after a long illness.
Born on December 16, 1950, in Greer, South Carolina, Sylvia was the daughter of the late David and Eva Wood. She graduated from Greer High School and immediately entered the workforce, where she established a career defined by dedication and professionalism.
Sylvia’s career culminated in her role as an administrative assistant for the City of Greenville, proudly serving the Mayor of Greenville until her retirement. She was known for her fiercely independent spirit, her dedicated work ethic, and her warm, humorous nature. Sylvia was also remembered as a thoughtful and good listener to all who knew her. Earlier in her life, she found joy and activity on the court, playing tennis in her free time.
Above all, Sylvia’s greatest passion was her family. She was immensely proud of her grandchildren, Alise, Brianna, and Jacob, who kept her going and were the light of her life.
Sylvia is survived by her loving family: her son, Adrian Fowler, and his wife, Kimberlee Fowler; her cherished grandchildren, Alise Fowler, Brianna Fowler, and Jacob Wiegand; and her brothers, David Wood, Leonard Wood, and Edward Wood
