LIFE PROFILE OF
MRS. ANN ELIZABETH " BETTY" BRYANT CURETON
Mrs. Ann Elizabeth Bryant Cureton departed this earthly life and went to her heavenly home on May 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt, cousin, friend, and most of all a faithful servant of God.
Ann was born on July 26, 1932, in Greenville County, South Carolina to the late Benjamin Franklin Byrant and Emma Hannah Donerson Bryant. In her adolescent years, she was a member of John Wesley Methodist AME Church and upon marriage she joined Reedy River Missionary Baptist church later serving as a member of the Senior Choir. Ann was educated in the Greenville County School System. She attended Sterling High School. Ann was employed as a quality control specialist for 26 years at C.F. Sauer. She was a lifetime member with the local NAACP. Ann’s favorite past-times were completing Bible Word Search books and watching Day-Time Soap Operas, Young & the Restless and Bold & the Beautiful.
Affectionately known by her family as Mama Ann, she was a strong woman of God. She covered her family in prayers that carries across generations. Mama Ann exemplified 1 Peter 5:7 “cast all your cares upon Him, for He careth for you.” She was known for demonstrating and saying, “Ain’t going to bother me.” She shared her wisdom with all of us and loved her family immensely. If asked how to live a long life, her reply “take care of #1 and mind your own business.”
On February 12, 1949, Ann Elizabeth Bryant married John Mark Cureton, Sr. the love of her life and were married for sixty-two years. From their union sprung forth, eight children, twenty-four grandchildren, sixty-one great grandchildren, and twenty-four great-great grandchildren.
Ann is survived by six daughters, Ann Elaine (Thomas) Dews of Oak Ridge, TN, Martha Arrye (Sylvester) Golden, Sandra Marie (Henry) Butler, Barbara Elizabeth Young, Ruby Grace Cannon Bennett all of Greenville, SC, Cynthia Delores Cureton (Ariel) Robles of Covington, GA; three grandchildren reared in the home, Benjamin A. Cureton, Jr., Shemika L. Cureton of Greenville, SC and Shikonya Quinyon Cureton of Houston, TX.
