Mrs. Melva Louise Akins

Mrs. Melva Louise Akins, 72, of Greenville, wife of Walter L. Akins, Sr., for 54 years, transitioned on Thursday, December 25, 2025. Born in Pendleton, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late John Wesley Webb, Sr. and Virgina Mae Williams Webb.

Surviving, in addition to her husband: one daughter, Erica G. (Richard) Staggers, IV of Manassas, VA; three sons, Walter L (Bessie Denise) Akins, Jr. of Greenville, SC , John Carl (Sabrina) Akins of Alexandria, VA and James T. (Debbie) Akins of Charleston, SC; one sister, Sandra (William) Oliver of Suffolk, VA; five brothers, John Wesley Webb, Jr, Simpsonville, SC , David (Jeanette) Webb of Greenville, SC, Walter Webb, Sr. of Fountain Inn, SC , Gary Webb of New York and Michael Webb of Mauldin, SC; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services: Friday, January 9, 2025, 2:00pm, at Watkins Garrett & Woods Mortuary, with interment in Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
