Charles Augustus Chiles, Sr was the third-born to his late parents, Samuel David Chiles Sr and Janie Lee Arnett Chiles in Abbeville, South Carolina on December 4, 1938.
Mr. Chiles graduated from Sterling High School and later married former wife, the late Mamie Oree Dean Chiles with whom he had two sons. After becoming a supervisor at J.P. Stevens & Co. Parker Plant, he retired with over 40 years of dedication. He faithfully served as a deacon and a member of the Men of Valor Choir at Rock of Ages Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina for over 20 years.
Mr. Chiles is preceded in death by three sisters, Janie B. Kirksey, Hattie C. "Carolyn" Chiles-English, and Mary F. "Frankie" Chiles; three brothers, Samuel D. Chiles Jr, George H. "Bem" Chiles Sr, and Robert L. "Bobby" Chiles.
Mr. Chiles leaves fond and loving memories to be cherished by two sons, Alverez Q. Chiles and Charles A. Chiles Jr; one grandson, Alverez Q. Smith; one granddaughter, Tatiyana Q. Chiles; two great-grandsons, Alverez Q. Smith III and Alzaiah Q. Rodgers Smith; one great-granddaughter, Alayiah K. Rodgers Smith; one sister, Lola M. Ford; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral Services: Wednesday, June 18, 2025, 1:00pm at Rock of Ages Baptist Church with interment in TBA.
