The Legacy of Bobby Burch
Bobby Burch was born on July 7, 1941, in Durham, North Carolina, to the late Roland and Annie Mae Burch. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and faithful servant of Christ whose life was defined by faith, integrity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to serving others. His legacy was not simply in the years he lived, but in the lives he touched, the doors he opened for others, and the example he set for generations to follow.
After honorably serving in the United States Air Force, Bobby dedicated more than 30 years to the United States Postal Service before continuing his service as a program manager at Christ Church Episcopal School. Throughout his career and community involvement, he demonstrated that true leadership is measured not by titles or recognition, but by the difference one makes in the lives of others. A passionate community advocate, he believed in giving generously, standing up for those in need, and creating opportunities for others to thrive. His faith was more than something he professed; it was something he lived daily through his actions, his generosity, and his love for humanity.
For 67 years, Bobby shared a devoted marriage with his beloved wife, Crystal Davis Burch, building a foundation of love, commitment, and family. As a father, he was a hero, a source of strength, and an example of what it means to live with purpose. His influence extended far beyond his immediate family, reaching into his workplace, his church, and the broader community. He leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured in years of service alone, but in the countless lives strengthened by his kindness, the hope inspired by his example, and the love that will continue to guide those who knew him.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Annie Mae Burch, and his oldest daughter, Janice Burch. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Crystal; daughter, Jamila Burch Lockhart; grandson, Jaedin C. Sullivan; honorary granddaughters, Raven and Journe Kelly-Bowens; and a host of relatives, friends, and loved ones whose lives were enriched by his presence.
Bobby Burch's legacy is one of faith, service, advocacy, and unconditional love. His life was his testimony. His service was his calling. His love was his legacy. And his legacy will live on for generations to come.
