Mr. John Leonard Mayes, Jr., 72, of Greenville, South Carolina, husband of Margaret Ann Gibson Mayes for 53 years, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at his residence. He was a son of the late John Leonard, Sr., and Edith Scott Mayes.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Delano L. (Darleen) Mayes of Simpsonville, SC and one daughter, Chonda Mayes Harris of Simpsonville, SC; six siblings, Julia L. Mayes of Greenville, SC, Gail (Anthony) Shell of Mauldin, SC, Teresa Harris of Greenville, SC, Ronald “Ronnie” (Joannette) Mayes of Greenville, SC, Delphine (Anthony) Lagroon of Columbia, SC and Tammy (Allen) McKinney of Simpsonville, SC; four grandchildren, Te’Joria Mayes, DreQuez Mayes, Demetrius Harris and Carmen Harris; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services: Wednesday, November 22, 2023, 11:00am at Watkins, Garrett and Woods Mortuary with interment in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
