Gwendolyn Ashmore

Mrs. Gwendolyn B. Ashmore, 66, of Greenville, South Carolina, departed this life on Friday, April 28, 2017, at Heartland Healthcare West. She was a daughter of the late James Brown and Nancy Davis Brown Blassingame.

“Gwen”, as she was affectionately called, was a graduate of Greenville Senior High School and Greenville Technical College. She was formerly employed with the Greenville Hospital System.

She was a member of the Long Branch Baptist Church and was affiliated with the Rock Hill Baptist Church #2. She was a member of the Enoree River Ushers Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willie Howard Ashmore; grandmother, Ella Donaldson; grandfather, Oscar Davis, Sr.; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Carolyn Brown, Jr.; and stepsister, Carrie Nell Moore.

Left to cherish many fond memories are three sisters, Ruth Brown and Mary K (Leon) Wideman, both of Greenville and Janet Blassingame of New York; two brothers, Larry Blassingame of Florida and Tommy Blassingame of Bronx, New York and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends
