Ernest Wood, Sr.

 Ernest Wood Sr, 84, son of the late David Wood and Eva Allen Wood was born January 14, 1940, and entered eternal rest on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at his home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Valerie Wood Wilson (Michael Wilson - devoted son-in-law), sisters Gladys McElrath, Flora Mae Foster, and brother Leroy Wood. 

He graduated from Lincoln High School, Taylors, SC in 1958. He was employed by John Hollingsworth Trucking Company for over 50 years until retirement. He was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist in Greer, SC. 

He leaves to cherish his wife Vangy Lee Valentine Wood of 63 years. His children Ernest Wood Jr (Cassandra) of Piedmont, Wayne Wood (Linda) of Greenville, SC, and Chavar Wood (Kelly) of Greer, SC and a special son Norman Goodwin of Charlotte, North Carolina and a special daughter Andrea Spriggs. 

He is survived by 4 siblings, Edward Wood of Greer, SC, Leonard Wood (Phyllis) of Mauldin, SC, David Wood (Barbara) of Conyers, Georgia and a sister Sylvia Ann Fowler of Charlotte, North Carolina. 

He leaves to cherish 6 grandchildren Terrance (Kenyatta) Sweeney of Memphis, Tennessee, Eric (Jessica) Wood of Laurens, South Carolina, TaMarrah (Ryan) Mosley of Piedmont, South Carolina, Johnathan Wood of Greenville, South Carolina, Mikala Wilson of Greer, South Carolina, and Cole Wood of Greer, South Carolina, and a host of great grandchildren. A special devoted nurse Sharon Byers and dear friend Walter Byers.
