Mrs. Vernell Irene Abercrombie Young, 74, of Greenville, South Carolina, passed on Monday, October 10, 2022, at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital. She was a daughter of the late Bill Booker and Geraldine Abercrombie Clay and was raised by the late James Clay.

She was the wife of 50 years to the late David Young.

Surviving: three daughters, Pamela Clay, Carolyn Russell, and Chrisandra Parks, all of Greenville, SC; two sons, Phillip Clay, and Ronald Brown, both of Greenville, SC; three sisters, Louise Gather, Marlon Clay, both of Thomasville, NC; and Lillian Clay of Greenville, SC; one brother, Stanley Clay of Greenville, SC; twenty-six grandchildren; fifty-two great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Service: Saturday, October 22, 2022, 3:00pm, at Word of Faith Christian Fellowship Church, with interment in Resthaven Memorial Garden.
